RENEWABLE ENERGY
An informative commercial to help Australians understand why it's important to make the switch to renewable energy.
INTRODUCTION
> THE BRIEF
The brief required to create an information motion graphics project with detailed statistical information in an illustrative and data-friendly manner. With one of the statistical data being supplied by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS)
> THE RESPONSE
I chose a non-profit organisation called green power. To help Australians reduce their carbon footprint by letting Australians know there is a much eco-friendly way of getting get electricity, which is renewable energy. And by taking the time to unplug appliances that are not in use to help reduce our gas emissions.
RESEARCH
> THE SCRIPT
Electricity is what makes our world go round. Switching on lights, charging our phones or even microwaving our 2 slices of pizza from last night’s dinner, it all uses up electricity. In Australia, 88% of the electricity generated comes from burning fossil fuels and every year, 18 tonnes of greenhouse gases are emitted per household. Our human activity is contributing severely to climate change, the destruction of habitats, raised sea levels and drastic changes in weather. In fact, Australia is known as the 4th lowest performing country on the climate change performance index. We can change this by reducing 80% of greenhouse gas emissions by converting to 100% renewable energy for electricity generation alone. Not to mention, it’s renewable – there’s an unlimited source of sunlight, geothermal energy and wind, it has low to nonexistent greenhouse gas emissions, it’s sustainable and it is cheaper to build than replacing old fossil fuel
generators. Make the switch or at the very least make an impact by reducing your carbon footprint by unplugging your appliances when they are not in use, for more information head to greenpower.gov.au

STORYBOARD
This is the description of animation in frames, the italics represent how the illustrations will move in sequence. The VO represents the narrative spoken during each of those frames.
> REFINING THE STORYBOARDS
The brief required to create a minimum of three style frames illustrating the different use of colours, text and overall layout. Based on the feedback given, the chosen choice of text, colours and layout - style frame number four became the outcome.
Styleframe One
Suggestion: I like the chosen style of typography, but not the watercolours. Also, it is too dark for a renewable world and the geometric globe was better.
Styleframe Two
Suggestion: This collage of words is a great idea but change the colour palette and positioning of the illustrations
Styleframe Three
Suggestion: The original positioning is preferred. And remove the outlines.
Styleframe Four
Final: I still used the ‘collage’ effect for my typography, kept it in the original position and used the original geometric globe.
DESIGNS
The final animation was built using illustrator, after effects and voice recordings. The screen resolution here is HD, 1920 x 1080.
